Fathers come in all shapes, sizes, and moods. They pamper us with everything we want, scare us with their discipline, scare us more with dad jokes and love us to bits.
This Father’s Day, Hetal’s Homemade decided to have a little bit of fun. We've picked some of our favourite filmy dads and matched them with our signature beverages. The filmy dads are obviously a caricature of all the real-life dads around us. So tell us which one is most like yours!
The Mogambo Dad
Amrish Puri’s characters from the 90s were all very complex, especially the one in DDLJ as Chaudhry Baldev Singh. He was strict on the outside but soft on the inside, just like a glass of our Kesar Thandai which would have him dancing to “Ae Meri Zohrajabeen” in no time.
The Sanskari Dad
The one who advises what is healthy for our bodies and what we should have, no matter the hour, day or season! Alok Nath’s characters take the cake with this one and we reckon he would love to be served our Badam Pista Kesar milk.
The Understanding Dad
Waiting for you till you return home late, this one is worried but ultimately understands and encourages you to do what you believe in. One of our favourite modern dads, from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, is Bunny’s dad played by Farooq Sheikh. The iconic Rose Sherbet would be the perfect match for this one, wouldn’t it?
The No-Nonsense Dad
As perfect as he is flawed, Srikant Tiwari is the new favourite dad on the block – he drops truth bombs even though he may have to google that term for himself. We doubt he would accept anything remotely modern and so our simple no-nonsense Soda Lemon Mocktail mix is the drink for him.
The Dad Who Spoils Us Lovingly
In complete contrast is Anupam Kher’s character, “Pops” from DDLJ who spoils Raj and laughs along with him no matter what. He teaches the most important lesson there is – enjoy your life and that’s why the Pinnacolada mocktail mix would be the drink for him.
The Cool and Cute Dad
With his “cool” necklace and goofy demeanour, SRK’s character Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai juggled his cool dad self with the chocolate lover boy romance he had going with both the leading ladies! One of our most loved flavours at Hetal’s Homemade, we reserve the chocolate-y Ferrero Rondnoir coffee for our chocolate-y hero.
The Parampara Dad
How can we make a list of filmy dads and not feature Bachchan sahab? Amitabh Bachchan’s icy demeanour as Yashvardhan Raichand in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” demands a cup of one of our most unique flavours, the Icy Vanilla coffee which will surprise you with soft vanilla flavours near the end.
The Not So South Mumbai Dad
Who can forget TV’s most iconic dad, Indravadan Sarabhai! Satish Shah plays the role to perfection and his sarcastic dialogue play with Ratna Pathak Shah is unparalleled. We picked our Cinnamon Cappuccino for him, as even though he would love our Kachi Keri sherbet in the afternoons, Maya would definitely replace that with the sophisticated Cinnamon Cappuccino!
The Supportive South Delhi Dad
Captivating his audiences since decades, Anil Kapoor’s character as Kamal Mehra in Dil Dhadakne Do was charming once again. For the supportive dad that he was to both his children, we raise a cup of our signature Irish Cream Coffee to him. We know he will add a little something to it – after all he is a Delhi dad about to take over the dance floor.
The Complaining Dad
Some dads, like Amitabh Bachchan as Bhashkor Banerjee in ‘Piku’, love to complain and they can do it all day, about everything! A cool Khas sherbet will definitely solve all his indigestion troubles.
Another favourite modern dad, Pankaj Tripathi as the characters of Narottam Mishra in ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and Anup Saxena in ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ is the cheerleader in both these daughters’ lives. We know he would love to make himself and them a cup of Chocolate Rum coffee in the middle of the night to nurture and inspire them.
So, which filmy dad is your dad like? Tell us in the comments and head over to shop the perfect matching beverage for him.
